Huntington Beach 2004

Southern California was relatively warm and barely sunny for the first NPPL event of 2004. Mind you, being at Huntington Beach sure beat being in Toronto for what hopefully was the last winter storm of the year. Pure Promotions outdid themselves with this event and they will have a hard time improving on it. I can hardly imagine a better venue or a better turn out for an event but if can be done, these are the guys to do it. I had a great time at the event. WDP released the amazing new Angel Fly which served Arsenal and Joy Division well. Dynasty took the event by storm, dropping only two games with their new Shocker.

I spent Thursday night with the other Angel Force Master techs setting up the new Angel Fly's for team Arsenal, WDP's newest team. These guys placed 4th which promises great things for the coming year seeing as how they are a new team with new guns. Expect to see these guys on the winners' podium this year!

Linkin Park came to the event and had a match against B-Real and the Stoned Assassins. The Master Techs set up their Angels in a private tent and Sean Bratten (left) and Josh (bottom left) got to play with the band, as did Matt the Gunslinger, one of the owners of WDP.

WDP held a tech class for the new Angel Fly at the Hilton Beachfront Resort. Angel Force Master Tech, Trevor from Badlands, was there helping Angel designer John Rice (bottom left) with the class along with Russ, the Angel Force Master Tech from Hawaii. As usual, everyone had a great time and after the class we all had a great dinner together (below). WDP and Pure Promotions did an outstanding job with the tournament and the tech class and I look forward to doing it all over again soon.
