The NPPL held its third event of 2005 in Denver. Paintball events seem to coincide with strange weather patterns - while we were in Denver, the city was locked in a record breaking heat wave - on Thursday all recorded temperature highs in the city were broken. The thermometer to the left reads 108 degrees farenheit (that's 42 degrees celcius) - keep in mind that the thermometer was in the shade in a tent that had fans running. Thermometers put on the pavement were reading 152 degrees (67 degrees celcius)! This was without a doubt the hottest paintball tournament I've ever attended.

The weather held clear for most of the event until Sunday when dark clouds rolled in for the semis and finals. As the last few games were coming to an end, lightning storms crept closer, threatening to cancel the finals. Just after the last game finished the rain came smashing down. Luckily the games finished before the storm hit, but, unfortunately, the rain meant that no podium pictures could be taken. XSV won the event, beating Dynasty in two games. This was the first time XSV had won an American event.
