Grid Fighters Eastern Event #1 Recap

Posted by Owen Ronayne on 5/30/2011

Gridfighters Eastern Event 1

Starting off the first event of the Eastern Conference was Hopperz Paintball in Almonte, ON. The field was well-kept, and the outdoor turf made for a strong venue. Teams from across Quebec, and Ontario showed bright and early, getting ready for the first installment of the Eastern Conference GFL. Teams at this venue were shooting the Inka Silver – Fire God, a newer installment in the Inka Silver fills. Peter Evans of Kingston Criminal Factory stated “This is the best Inka I have shot so far! Great fill, very brittle, and broke on anything I shot at!”

The open division was filled with strong teams such as Kingston Criminal Factory, Montreal FX, and Ottawa Domination. These games were quick, and filled with very skilled and precise bunker runs. However it was Kingston Criminal Factory that came out on top, with an impressive 3-1 record at +19, just followed by Montreal FX.

The entry level consisted of five strong teams, each kept at very close games. Games ran ahead of schedule, but this did not throw any of the teams off. Paint flew, and tempers flared but at the end of the day Ottawa Evolution came out on top, and has taken the lead in seed points after event 1.

All of the Eastern division teams were ecstatic to see a Planet Eclipse tech-zone available at the event. Badlands' own Matt Gregersen filled the technician's role, and worked hard to ensure that anyone shooting Eclipse markers at the event had them tuned to perfection before setting foot on the field.

Thank you to all the teams, referees, and staff for making this such an enjoyable event. See you at E2!
