Grid Fighters Central Event #2 Recap

Posted by Owen Ronayne on 5/23/2011 to Tournaments and Big Games

Gridfighters Central Event 2 - May 22,2011

In the second installment of the GFL, we find ourselves at Next Paintball in Pickering, ON. The size of the field gave teams in both the Open and Entry divisions alike room to make some more aggressive moves off the break, opening up high scoring matches. Teams once again took advantage of the Inka Silver Feathered Serpent.

In the open brackets, we saw dominant teams such as Kingston Criminal Factory, Toronto Lockdown, and Cambridge Raiders Army start off strong. However, the most exciting match of the day was played by Gatineau Altitude v.s. Toronto Lockdown. In this match we saw our first overtime scenario played out, in a 4 -4 tie. In the first 1 on 1, the players traded out and were forced to go to a 2nd overtime! However, Gatineau got the best of Lockdown and walked away with the final 5 to 4 win.

The majority of teams at the event had chosen to shoot Eclipse markers, and these lucky teams were treated to complimentary tune-ups and service-work, courtesy of the GFL's Planet Eclipse sponsorship, which provides a qualified gun-tech at every event, plus unbelievable prizes for the overall series winners.

The entry division, just as per the first event, was very strong; the teams that showed up were extremely well organized, and ready to shoot some paint. Teams found themselves accomplishing long snake runs, which quickly wrapped up points, and made for fast paced exciting games.

Overall great event, thank you to all the teams, and staff for all their hard work! See you at event 3!
