Grid Fighters Central Event #1 Recap

Posted by Owen Ronayne on 4/4/2011

Grid Fighters Central Event 1 - Sunday April 3, 2011

Kicking off the introduction to the new GFL, was Flagswipe Paintball out of London, ON. Teams from across Ontario and Quebec traveled to compete in this year’s fastest, and most exciting format, looking to walk away on top of their division. The venue itself was well lit, and very clean for the Open division to start the day. Teams for this event were shooting Inka Silver – Feathered Serpent… and lots of it!

The teams quickly adapted to the field layout, and took full advantage of the free Planet Eclipse tech booth for any final tweaking they may have needed.  Divided into two brackets, teams competed throughout the day in a race to 5, 3v3 format. Teams seemed to excel in this format, walking away with multiple 5 point wins, rarely allowing the full 20 minutes of the game come to an end.

The entry level class kicked off without a hitch. In this 3v3 race to 3 format, we saw very quick and clean games. Players took full advantage of the open field, making it difficult to make larger runs. This division seemed to be the most well rounded competition, making for entertaining strong matches.

Thank you to all the teams, for making this event as great as it was! See you at Event 2!
